Strange and Laws of the Land
On the way into the lab this morning we passed by a large protest at the local abortion clinic. A few dozen people were lining the streets with graphic signs of aborted fetuses and other horrible atrocities. These placards are designed for moral ’shock and awe’, and I have no doubt that they work.
However, the situation led me to remark how strange it is that those protesters are seen as within the law;
Mayor Brad Woodside and Fredericton police asked the protesters to remove the material from public view. But as long as the group worked peacefully and didn’t disrupt traffic, they were allowed to continue protesting.

Yet if I were to stand on the street with a large photo of a nude woman I would no doubt be arrested and fined.
What do YOU find more obscene? Grotesque photos of death or a graphic depiction of the human body?
Criminal Code Section 163 - “Corrupting Morals”
Food for thought.

Dream Report #2 : Indoor Canoeing
The dream began somewhat strangely - I was with a friend (one of those faceless people, but I knew he was a friend) during a giant rainstorm carrying an Old Town canoe. We were in a university residence - there were patchy water spots around the hall but nothing warranted use of the canoe. Suddently one part of the hallway seemed extremely flooded so we jumped in the canoe and started paddling around - this ‘wing’ of the residence seemed deserted. There were very strange things floating in the water like the magnet from my lab and other scientific instruments.
After canoeing a while we were startled by an authority figure of some type who began to chase us. Apparently canoeing in a flooded residence was in severe violation of the rules. We were forced to perform some acrobatic canoeist acts to escape - eventually ending up in the flooded basement, and crawling out a ground floor window to find that the police had been called to apprehend us.
As we huddled behind a stone fence someone on a balcony up above spotted us and signaled the police. They were on us instantly, but strangely only seemed concerned with snatching my companion - I was able to slip away easily despite the hopeless situation. For some reason at this point I was no longer at a university residence - rather at a private home with slanted angular windows. I slipped inside and then woke up.

Exhaustion, Exhuberance, and one long Exhale
Punk rock girl you look so wild
Punk rock girl let’s have a child
We’ll name her Minnie Pearl, Just you and me
Eating fudge banana swirl, Just you and me
We’ll travel round the world
Just you and me… punk rock girl
I have been travelling around now for as long as I can remember.
Ok, not that long, but it does seem that I have been busy travelling for a serious amount of time - with little time to sit down and relax.
Hear ye - Hear ye! I humbly present the jacobsanford.com ‘Ketchup’:
- Trip to Ottawa for academia
- Jaunt to PEI for Canada Day
- Saunter to Shediac to See R and K
Do not despair! This weekend I will pledge my undying loyalty to gods of staying around, going to the Market and general lazy behaviour.
Is there a patron Saint for such tomfoolery? You betcha’ - Saint Jake.

Happy 4th of July
Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish - a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow - to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested…
Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll.
