Snow, Blaberidae, and Lead Pipe Coffee
Each day I arrive at work and drink up a fine cup of Staff-Room coffee that tastes somewhat akin to the swill they serve at Dunkin’ Donuts in the states, but also including overtones of the acidic ion-heavy metals. Due to the age of the building, I also suspect the pipes the water passes through are fabricated with lead.
The reason I drink it is simple - it’s cheap ($0.20/cup with canned milk) and convenient. I throw in $2 every week or so and keep track of how many cups I drink.
But this is my dream - some day I am going to invest several dollars in my enjoyment by putting a proper coffee maker and grinder in my office. I will bring in nice beans and I will relax every morning as I prepare and enjoy a fine cup of coffee. Someday. For now, I’m going to loop The Marvellettes’ cover of Please Mr. Postman.
CNN reported this morning that Castro publically referred to the the US as a bunch of ‘cock-a-roaches‘. Only a few historical incidents with mob run american casinos, Michael Corleone / Hyman Roth, and Russian based missles pointed at american cities from Cuban soil while Kevin Costner fought to save the country - I wonder why Cuba and the USA really can’t seem to get along?
But on to more important news - it is snowing again today. Why is this important? Because Hingis lost to Clijsters. It seems that even god is crying over that one.
