Exclusive Report from the Front - Washington DC
Jacobsanford.com’s new roving field reporter Addison Von Finkledorf has recently gotten back from assignment in Washington DC.
He writes:
Addison :

I got my pic taken in front of the whitehouse, you can clearly see the snipers on the roof, and actually - that’s actually the back, you can’t get near the front. The secret service guys walking around have these baseball bats that apparently spray mace when they hit you - the cab driver told us about them.

If you look carefully, at the back you can see the dudes with the attack dogs under the trees at the back. There were also snipers on the roofs of all the surrounding buildings, and dumptrucks filled with rocks blocking off all the surrounding streets, you couldn’t drive near the place if you had to.
Jake :
Is that a mine field?
Addison :
Nah, it’s a “newly sodded soccer field”, surrounded by fences and secret service.
If you’d like to be a field reporter for js.com, let me know.

Michaëlle Jean - Our New Governor General
So tell me this - what is with the last two governor generals being former reporters? Is it a pre-requisite for the position? I mean, the Governor-General acts as our de-facto Head of State representing the Queen.
Why has it become typical to choose a TV reporter for this position?
Let’s examine the facts.
Adrienne Clarkson
She is well known from her work in broadcasting, having hosted and produced several shows for the CBC (1965-1982); these include Take 30, Adrienne at Large, The Fifth Estate, Adrienne Clarkson’s Summer Festival, and Adrienne Clarkson Presents.
Michaëlle Jean
She has hosted and produced news and documentary programming for television on both the English and French services of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. She was most recently the host of CBC Newsworld’s The Passionate Eye and RDI’s Grands Reportages, as well as an occasional anchor of Radio-Canada’s Le Téléjournal.
Wait a second… Hrmm…. The CBC….. Is there a connection?
Romeo Leblanc
Worked for the CBC for 10 years before he came to Ottawa as a Liberal press agent
Holy crap! Could the CBC secretly be a proving ground for Governor General? An Al-Qaeda-ish training organization?
I’ll keep you up to date on this hot development as I dig deeper.

Thoughts about Loving Fall
Just a lost gem of Pat doing a rock and roll kick to start off the post today. But you know, I think Fall is my favorite season.
The air is slightly crisp, smells a LOT better than spring (As Olivia pointed out) and just is overall a really great season. Walks to school are more enjoyable, the trees look amazing in their colors, and you can wear neato sweaters and pants again.
Sure some people with the Seasonal Affective Disorder start to get gloomy during the fall months but I actually get happier. Last October we went to Fundy camping and it was one of the best times I had that year.
So I’m thinking of getting a cabin in PEI next month for a few nights. Stuff gets cheap this time of year. Put on “She’s a Rainbow” and dance around in the leaves like a hippie. I think I need some more of that nonsense sometimes. Mabye I’ll videotape it and post.
Then again some may say most of my life is nonsense.

Why I Like Hunter
It’s really hard to put my finger on why I like Hunter S. Thompson’s writing so much. Sure, it’ easy to throw around words like “gonzo” or “outlaw” but I really don’t feel it has anything to do with that. Mabye it’s because if I was a writer, it is exactly how I hope I would write.
Or mabye his life was how I feel I should model mine. I hope not, or I’m in a world of trouble.
In any case, Keeping with my current motorcycle theme, I’ve posted one of his tales for all to read.
