Michaëlle Jean - Our New Governor General
So tell me this - what is with the last two governor generals being former reporters? Is it a pre-requisite for the position? I mean, the Governor-General acts as our de-facto Head of State representing the Queen.
Why has it become typical to choose a TV reporter for this position?
Let’s examine the facts.
Adrienne Clarkson
She is well known from her work in broadcasting, having hosted and produced several shows for the CBC (1965-1982); these include Take 30, Adrienne at Large, The Fifth Estate, Adrienne Clarkson’s Summer Festival, and Adrienne Clarkson Presents.
Michaëlle Jean
She has hosted and produced news and documentary programming for television on both the English and French services of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. She was most recently the host of CBC Newsworld’s The Passionate Eye and RDI’s Grands Reportages, as well as an occasional anchor of Radio-Canada’s Le Téléjournal.
Wait a second… Hrmm…. The CBC….. Is there a connection?
Romeo Leblanc
Worked for the CBC for 10 years before he came to Ottawa as a Liberal press agent
Holy crap! Could the CBC secretly be a proving ground for Governor General? An Al-Qaeda-ish training organization?
I’ll keep you up to date on this hot development as I dig deeper.

Is there link to the CBC strikes?
Jake
I think you’re onto something here. Mabye the ’strike’ is an assembly of the CBC employees voting on the new Governor General like the cardinals do when the pope dies. They go into the conclave and have a secret voting ceremony. I need to dig DEEPER.

I wonder… do you really have to qualify that Mel Gibson comment with his role in “Conspiracy Theory”? I think that just putting “you have a sick and twisted mind like Mel Gibson” has a more profound effect.
