Tom Cruise All WetA reporter at gala in Leicester Square apparently squirted Tom Cruise with water, leading to a some legal woes. He was in town to promote the new “War of the Worlds” film. Tom has been one of my favorite actors as of late - performing in some different yet exceptional films like Collateral. I still think his character portrayl in Eyes Wide Shut is one of the few recent performances that reached the ‘cool’ peak that Pacino’s character did in Carlito’s Way.

As he answered questions from journalists, a bogus reporter, wearing a white and green T-shirt, stuck out a joke microphone and used it to squirt water into Cruise’s face.

The star struggled to maintain his composure and confronted the man, taking his hand and saying: “Why would you do that … why would you do that … why would you do that?”

As the prankster offered a barely audible excuse, Cruise said: “Do you like thinking less of people, is that it?”

After an uncomfortable silence the Channel 4 man went to walk away but Cruise said: “Don’t run away.”

He told his assailant: “That’s incredibly rude. I’m here giving you an interview and you do that … it’s incredibly rude.”

Cruise then said forcibly: “You’re a jerk … jerk … you’re a jerk.”

I’d have to say his reaction was one of the coolest things I’ve heard a celeb bark at a reporter. Nothing harsh, just made the guy feel 2 inches tall, and rightfully so.

Odd PerspectivesWould it surprise you to find out that one of god’s true prototypes, Mike Dick, has been to the gates of the Neverland Ranch? It did me. Supposedly his father forced his brother and himself to ask a local apple farmer where the property was, and they went visiting. I’ve requested a photo of the event and will post and update when I recieve it.

I wondered why he dissapeared last month for a week - perhaps he was called to testify in the recent trial in California. I’ll dig deeper on this one folks, don’t worry.

Posting the last story has lead me to recall another snippet about my time at the gas station.

There was a fellow that worked there named Clarence. Clarence was mildly slow but always did a great job at the station.

Clarence had a truck he absolutely LOVED. Unfortunately in this climate a heater is quite necessary for a vehicle and his barely worked. One night, he forgot to engage the parking brake while he was letting it run to warm up before his drive home. He also parked it on a hill.

The result was his truck rolling out of control across the road and smashing into a local oil company’s storage yard. I believe his truck was ruined.

Clarence was later fired for spitting on an abusive customer’s windshield after being told he squeegeed it improperly.

I wonder what Clarence is up to right now….

I remember once when I used to work at a gas station the following story happened. It may or may not be true but I remember it as true so that is what counts.

There was a used car lot across from the gas station that always sold what I would call ‘questionable’ vehicles. They would bring them in to fuel them up and they wouldn’t start etc and I always wondered who bought from them.

One night a customer that was disgruntled over a lemon sold to him walked into the gas station, bought a jug of camp fuel, walked across the street and soaked the cars in the lot in camp fuel and lit er up.

He was immediately identified video the gas station cameras but I don’t know if they ever caught him.

I wonder what that guy is doing right now…
